Reality check
I don’t get too interested in the whole “Java vs. Rails” debate, but I thought this was interesting:

You can argue (I probably would) that you would never want Rails to have an equal search volume to Java - that you don’t want Rails to go mainstream. Regardless, I think this graph lends some clarity to the discussion.
Unfortunately, you can’t zoom in closer than a year; I bet if you looked at the search volume in the last few months, Rails’ would be increasing rapidly as Java’s drops consistently.

Yeah, interesting. It’s funny that the highest search volume for “python” came in Oct. 2005, related to the story titled “Python Bursts After Trying to Eat Gator”. See, that’s something Ruby could never do…
